What is a geoglyph?

For thousands of years, humans have shaped the landscape to create massive works of art that we call geoglyphs. What are geoglyphs?

The Nazca Lines in Peru are among the most famous examples—over 800 miles of monumental geoglyphs depicting animals, plants, and abstract shapes. These figures, including a hummingbird, a monkey, and even a giant, are best seen from above.

Main artworks: Nazca Lines, c. 500 BCE–500 CE, geoglyphs in the Nazca Desert, Peru
